Back in January when I went to India, I had a day to spend in Zurich on the way home. Our flight got into Zurich airport at about 6am and our connection didn’t leave until 5pm. Having never been to Switzerland before this was super exciting to me and after three weeks of eating bananas, curry (SO much curry), and the Indian equivalent of walkers crisps, I was more than ready for some high calorie, sugary treats… and believe me, Zurich has plenty of them!
Our first stop was at a small cafe called ‘Delish’ and I can confirm that it was definitely delish! I had an amazing hot choclate and an almond croissant. I would go back to Zurich for that croissant alone!
Our afternoon was spent wandering the streets and trying to find places to go inside and keep warm. It was -14c outside and we didn’t have enough warm clothes with us as we’d of had to carry them around in India. I thought about buying a warm hat from one of the shops, but after seeing the price tag decided I’d rather get frost bite to the ears. Zurich is seriously expensive!!
After drinking one too many hot chocolates and taking hundred of photo’s we decided about where to eat for dinner, everywhere has such amazing displays of fresh, healthy food so we were spoilt for choice. But eventually we went to a cafe inside a huge station and had some fish and chips, (calorific – check, unhealthy – check) then headed back to the airport to catch our flight.
I’d love to go back to Zurich one day, perhaps when it isn’t so cold next time!
